Jeremy Massey, MS, LCMHC

I obtained a Master's of Science in Mental Health Counseling from Walden University in May of 2014. I am trained to work with individual, families, and groups. I also have extensive knowledge and sensitivity in working with adolescents and adults, and those suffering from moderate to severe mental health symptoms. I am Licensed in the State of North Carolina (#11042) and have received additional training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Play Therapy. and Motivational Interviewing techniques. My clientele includes children, adolescents. and adults, in individual, family, and group therapy to address a variety of needs, including, but not limited to, situational stressors, family relations, relationships, mental health issues, and  life span issues.

Counseling involves the sharing of problems, concerns, and stories with a professional who is skilled at helping the client or clients come to a resolution or solution about the particular situation. Counseling is a relatively short-term, interpersonal; theory based professional activity guided by ethical and legal standards that focuses on helping persons resolve developmental issues, situational problems, and more complex diagnosis.

The general goals for the client are that he/she can identify the issues, develop a plan of action, and then implement that plan. This is a very personal process. I believe that it is educational and developmental by nature.

My approach to counseling is rooted in many different theoretical orientations. I believe that everyone has the freedom to choose what directions to their life takes and the responsibility to take control of that freedom. Thus, counselors do not have the "answers" to the client's "problem" but is a facilitator of the process that helps the client take responsibility and action that will assist them with resolving their problems and ultimately improve their quality of life.

Melissa Booker, MS, LCMHC

Hello, my name is Melissa Booker, and I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor. I received my undergraduate degree from NC A&T State University in psychology in 1998 and my master’s degree in professional counseling from Liberty University in 2014. I made the decision to pursue counseling in 2011 when I recognized that I had done everything I could at my current level, and I wanted to do more to help hurting individuals. As a counselor, I feel that it is important to be able to practice active listening and the ability to reflect on those things that was shared to assist individuals who are trying to cope with life stressors.

My experience has range from working with children, adolescents, and adults where I have gotten the opportunities to utilize training and certification for System of Care, Nurturing Parenting, and Strengthening Families. My therapeutic technique is to use cognitive behavioral therapy along with motivational interviewing to work with individual to help them toward feeling okay about themselves and life again or for the first time.

I am a wife and a mother who enjoys spending time with family and very active in church working with the youth. In my free time I enjoy reading a good book and practicing self-care of shopping with my grandmother and daughter.
